Operational Supervisors Coaching for Success at Deseret Industries

Every day at Deseret Industries is a “big game” for operational supervisors who coach associates in the DI job training program. Much like football coaches, DI supervisors play an essential role in leading their team, supporting them as they work hard, learn new skills, and gain experience.

Learn the Coach’s Game Plan

Operational supervisors are more than just managers—they are leaders who DI associates can look to for guidance while in the DI job training program. This program is designed to help associates learn valuable work behaviors like:

  • Dependability

  • Professionalism

  • Productivity

  • Teamwork

Operational supervisors provide instruction and training, oversee an associate’s work, and offer the associate customized feedback and support to help them reach their employment goals.

Meet a Coach

Ben is an operational supervisor for associates at one of Deseret Industries’ 46 locations. He finds fulfillment in his job because of the chance he has to offer coaching and guidance to associates.

“I am grateful that this job puts me in a position where I can help associates realize and remember how good they are,” Ben says.

As a leader, Ben plays an important role in building the confidence of the associates on his team. He enjoys helping people and appreciates the opportunity he has to use his skills to make a difference.

“I love being at this job,” Ben says. “I was so happy when I was hired, and coming here has been an amazing experience for me.”

What “Winning” Looks Like

Ben is just one of more than 275 operational supervisors across DI’s 46 locations, but his thoughts and feelings are reflective of what each thinks and feels about their associates. For an operational supervisor, “winning” is seeing their associates grow and reach their employment potential.

As associates improve their skills and behaviors through the DI job training program, they go on to obtain better employment—in large part because of the coaching and training they received from their operational supervisors.

Check out our Badge to Badge video series to learn more about associates who have leveraged their DI experience—including the support given by operational supervisors—to obtain better work.

You can also donate at your local DI location to support the work of associates who are seeking to create better futures for themselves. Your donations directly fund the DI job training program and allow our operational supervisors to lead associates in their professional pursuits.
