When Magdalena joined Deseret Industries eight months ago, she came with the goal to accelerate her learning. “I never made it past the trial period for long-term jobs,” she says. “It’s not because I was a bad worker—it’s that I didn’t learn fast enough.”

 

Her experience is allowing her to develop that ability as well as expand upon other skills. “DI has helped a lot. They are really accommodating with what you need.”

 

Because she learns best through music, Magdalena creates her own little songs to memorize information, such as where items are located in the store. Her favorite part of the job is talking with the customers.

 

“I connect with people on a personal level, even though I don’t see them often or only see them once,” Magdalena says. “I am giving customers human interaction that they might need that day.”
