Gratitude and Growth: Kadija's Journey at the Humanitarian Center

Kadija's journey to where she is today began in 2015 when she and her husband arrived in the United States from their native country of Somalia. Since then, she has found a supportive community and meaningful work at the Latter-day Saint Humanitarian Center.

As an associate in the job training program at the Humanitarian Center, Kadija is responsible for sorting clothes, a role that involves assessing the quality of surplus clothing donations from Deseret Industries. She carefully sorts through clothing, distinguishing between items that can continue to be used and those that should be recycled, ensuring that only the best items are prepared for distribution.

"I like everything about working at the Humanitarian Center," Kadija says. "When I’m working hard, I like it. I like staying busy.”
