What is a Business Partnership?

At Deseret Industries, our goal is to give people the support and help they need to move into a new career that matches their interests and will allow them to provide for themselves and their families. When you work with us as an associate, we do our best to help you get the training you need to move forward. Depending on your career goals, this might include a business partnership.

Maybe you want to test out a certain type of work to see if it’s a good fit for you. Maybe you need some experience in a specific field to add to your résumé. Participating in a business partnership can help you do both these things and many more.

A business partnership is similar to an internship. In a business partnership, you will be able to work part-time at another company or organization for a period of time while Deseret Industries pays your wages.

Janeen did a business partnership with a physical therapy office. She had been working as an aerobic instructor, and she wanted to find a more stable career where she could still use those talents. During her business partnership, Janeen was able to get some experience and network while discovering that she truly did have a passion for physical therapy. In the end, Janeen’s business partnership led her to where she is now: employed full-time as a physical therapy aide!

Many of our associates have been able to gain needed experience through business partnerships with offices and organizations of all kinds, including daycare centers, business offices, medical facilities, nursing homes, retail stores, production and manufacturing factories, and more.

If you think a job as an associate with Deseret Industries or a business partnership through Development Counseling Services might be a good fit for you, contact your local store and ask to speak with a development counselor.
