After a summer of anticipation, the Provo Deseret Industries store officially reopened last month, and it’s looking better than ever. The store closed its doors on June 2, 2025, for a major remodel, and the community felt it right away.
“People were still pulling into the parking lot asking why we were closed,” says store manager Nephi Carter. “They wanted to be in here so badly!”
The enthusiasm from customers during the closure was a reminder of how valued the store is and made the reopening even more meaningful.

The remodel of the store wasn’t just a quick refresh—it was a full-scale renovation. The efforts included:
Removal of fixtures.
Replacement of carpets and ceiling.
Complete upgrade of the HVAC system.
Notably, the once dim and worn yard area now features polished concrete floors, bright LED lighting, and fresh paint throughout.
“This store was built in 1998 and hadn’t had a major remodel since,” Carter says. “Now it’s ready to serve for generations.”

While construction crews worked on the building, the DI team, including all of the 130 associates, stayed busy processing donations. Every item—including clothing, electronics, and home goods—was carefully boxed, labeled, and stored so reopening would be smooth and efficient.
The team also used the downtime for training. Associates participated in customer service workshops, safety sessions, and job search skills training. More than 40 team members moved on to jobs or full-time Church missions during the closure, and 47 new faces joined the team, bringing fresh energy and excitement to the store.

The remodel brought a new look, but the heart of DI remains the same: helping people transform their lives.
“We serve a great purpose,” Carter says. “We help people through job training and bishops’ orders, and by offering value pricing. And let’s be honest, people love to treasure hunt here!”

Whether you’re furnishing a home, looking for a great deal, or just love the thrill of the find, the renovated Provo DI is ready to welcome you back.
