At each of the 46 Deseret Industries thrift stores across the United States, DI associates are finding new opportunities to advance their careers and grow their professional skills. One of these associates is Salgai, who sought employment in the DI job training program to strengthen her resume. 

“I want to use my experience here to help me find a better job in the future,” she says. 

The Unique Job Training Experience 

Through the job training program, associates like Salgai learn important skills and behaviors that make them valuable employees. For example, associates can learn skills in cashiering, forklift operation, and merchandising, among others. Additionally, they practice workplace behaviors such as professionalism, teachability, and teamwork. 

Salgai’s operational supervisor, Ben, emphasizes how she is using this unique job training experience to contribute at Deseret Industries.  

“She is awesome,” Ben says. “She is so capable, has a good work ethic, is a great team player, is willing to learn, and is reliable. I don’t have to worry about her.”

Salgai recognizes how this experience is strengthening her abilities and preparing her for future employment opportunities. 

“I have learned a lot here,” Salgai says. “I am happy how I have grown.” 

Salgai’s experiences are like the many other DI associates who have found satisfaction in their progress. The program helps them not only become better employees but also find joy in their growth.
