Seven years ago, Georgina left her native country of Peru and came to the United States to be near her son and his family. Now, Georgina is working as an associate at DI, where she plays a critical role in helping donated items reach the retail floor.
“I am grateful for all the things I learn,” Georgina says. “I am grateful that I am able to develop myself.”
As part of the job training program, Georgina has set goals to help her accomplish bigger things. She has enrolled in English classes through DI and plans to get her driver’s license in the future. But Georgina is not limiting herself by those goals.
“If they want to teach me something, I’m open to learning it,” she says.
Georgina appreciates that she feels respected and cared about in the workplace, both as an employee and as a person. She is glad that she can be open in her communication and that she receives constant support.
“I feel safe working here,” Georgina says.
