I Found a Good Job!

“I am now able to speak good English, and most important, I can read and write in English.”

I needed more training to get a better job, and I also needed to improve my English language skills. A referral to the LDS Humanitarian Center gave me an opportunity for both.

The LDS Humanitarian Center is a wonderful place, where everyone is helpful and friendly. I had a whole team of people willing to support me through this experience. I had great English teachers and missionaries who were willing to help me practice my English and guide me through my job search. I had a job coach who taught me about customer service and helped me train on forklifts. I had a development counselor who guided me and helped me plan for a future where I would be able to care for my large family. I also had a mentor who had been assigned by a kind bishop. My mentor cared so much about my progress that he would even meet with me at my home. He was always there to support me through the many challenges I faced. He would help me and my family with our reading and speaking. He is a true friend.

With so much support, I faced few challenges with learning or work. I now have great customer service skills and my forklift certification. I am now able to speak good English, and most important, I can read and write in English. I found a good job driving a shuttle bus and can easily find directions and communicate with customers.

Thank you for helping me.
