I came to Deseret Industries angry and discouraged. I had been searching for a job for months, but past mistakes made it extremely difficult to even obtain an interview. My bishop offered me a referral to Deseret Industries.

When I began at DI, I had a poor attitude. My relationships with my children were strained, and I am certain that those who were working with me at DI must have needed a great deal of patience. A caring job coach trainer helped me discover ways that I could improve. Gradually, things did improve as I worked hard. I was soon advancing in ability and leadership. Eventually, I was nominated to be the lead in my department. As my self-worth improved, so did my relationships.

My dream was to work in a care facility as a certified nursing assistant. Deseret Industries paid for my schooling. I passed with flying colors. With help from DI, my past was expunged and I now have a good job that will support myself and my family. My experience at Deseret Industries has allowed me to regain my self-respect and the respect of others.
