The DI Gave Me Guidance

"I owe a lot of what I am to the DI and what the program helped me become."

I can’t really say what led me to work at Deseret Industries, but what I do know is they helped me find my way back from being broken, both spiritually and emotionally. I was not where I needed to be in my life and was not able to provide for my family.

At first, I was a little hesitant with what the DI offered to help me with. I thought, “How could they possibly help fix what I couldn’t by myself?” But it was only when I let the program work in my life that I could see what needed to be fixed.

The DI helped me get back on track by showing me the importance of goal setting, which gave me confidence in my leadership ability and in the value of my opinion. The DI program also helped me return to school to improve my chances of getting a better job and start a career in information technology.

My job coach personally guided me through where I wanted to be with my short and long term goals and was a force for good in my life. He showed me the tools I needed to take control of my life with sound advice. I still make goals each week to help strengthen my emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. When I became a team lead in an electronics department, I applied the same skills that I had learned to help mentor others to reach their personal goals in sales and production. We even reached a store record in products sold.

I loved my time at the DI. I met some amazing people and made some great friends. I can provide for my family and do something I am really proud of. I love what I get to do each day and I know it’s where I want to be. I owe a lot of what I am to the DI and what the program helped me become. I am forever grateful for the guidance I received and the friendships I made there.
