Keeping My Promise

“I came to Deseret Industries looking for a new start.”

I have suffered through a long and exhausting battle with alcoholism. I could not hold onto a job because I would let my addiction rule my life. I came to Deseret Industries looking for a new start. I had reached my rock bottom and needed help. DI gave me that second chance, and with this opportunity, I promised myself and many others that I would do my very best to be sober and a great employee.

Through addiction recovery meetings, expert counseling, and the love and support that my DI friends and job coaches gave me, I was able to keep that promise. I stopped drinking and have remained sober. If I have anything to say about the Deseret Industries program, I would say it’s a great program, full of many unseen blessings and many angels.

I am most grateful to have had the opportunity to go to work each day at Deseret Industries to support my new life. Because of the DI training program, I also have the opportunity for a good future. DI helped me obtain extra training at a local college. I am now licensed to drive commercial vehicles. I have been offered a very good job with a mining company. I am excited about this new position and am confident that with the skills I have learned through the DI program, I will succeed.

Because of my associations at DI, I have regained my self-esteem and found the spirituality I had lost. I now have the love and trust of my family and friends. The DI program has helped me in so many, many ways.
