Prepared for Better Employment

“I took advantage of the opportunity to study English.”

I first considered joining the Deseret Industries (DI) training program when I was laid off from my job. I needed to work to help my husband pay bills and to send money to my family in Africa. I went to my bishop, and we talked about the opportunity of working and training at DI.

One of the things that encouraged me when I began working at DI was how the staff truly cared about and loved me. My job coach and others would check up on me and see how I was doing. I also had the support of so many others, such as Church-service missionaries, co-workers, my mentor, my bishop, my ward, and, of course, my family.

While working at DI, I took advantage of the opportunity to study English. Because of hard work, I can now communicate better. I also was given the opportunity to develop my leadership skills when I was advanced to be a leader of my team at DI. Because I have improved my English and work skills, I have found a new job that helps me take better care of my family and be more financially secure.

I am so grateful for DI. My life has been truly blessed. I encourage others currently working at DI, or wanting to work there, to take advantage of the great way they teach you and prepare you for better employment. I feel very blessed by having the opportunity to have worked there.
