Deseret Industries stores are full of employees waiting to help you with thrifting and donating, including smiling associates like Rosa.
Rosa is from Chihuahua, Mexico, and moved to Utah with her family three years ago. She learned about Deseret Industries and told her husband, “One day, I’m going to work in the store.” Now, Rosa has been living her dream working at Deseret Industries for a year and a half.
“I’m really happy working here,” Rosa says. “I love tagging, sorting, and hanging donations.”
Rosa came to DI with a desire and willingness to grow and plans to work at DI until she has developed skills that will help her obtain better employment. She is currently working on a goal to better learn how to speak and write in English and hopes to go to school to learn how to work with computers.
“I'm starting to speak more English,” Rosa says proudly.
When Rosa isn’t working at DI, she loves to swim and spends time with her family as a grandmother—or Abuelita—to 17 grandchildren.
“My family is big—especially my grandkids,” she says. “It’s a lot!”
